Ralph Edward Bailey (1888-1960) was born in Brunswick, GA. He attended Stone Mountain Preparatory School, Mercer University, and was awarded a Th.M. from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1911. In that same year he married Julia Baynard Pickard, who was the daughter of Dr. W.L. Pickard, the President of Mercer University. A church was formed in Cambridge in 1633, but in 1636 the minister and many members removed to Hartford, Conn. A new church was gathered that year.
